There is a huge risk of the bulb shattering, injuries, and the oven shutting down. In short, it would be a disaster. Who would want such trouble in their homes?

Why Would a Regular Bulb Not Work in an Oven?

It is important to understand why a regular bulb would not work in an oven. I mean, it works just fine in our rooms, right?

1. Heat Resistance

The inside of the oven is much hotter than the room temperature. It would be safe to assume that if a regular light bulb comes in inappropriate proximity to the oven, the bulb will break apart. The heat-resisting material is missing in a regular bulb. The high temperature causes filament failure as well.

2. Size

The size of a regular light bulb is conspicuously big for an oven. The standard size for a regular bulb is 7 centimeters. The size is far too big for an oven to function with the light. Hence, it becomes a must for an oven to have a different kind of bulb.

What Kind of a Bulb Is Suitable for an Oven?

Since a regular light bulb is out of the question, ovens need a different bulb that does not shatter or take up oven space. Such a bulb could be an appliance bulb. A standard 40-watt bulb is used inside an oven. The criterion for this oven is to withstand the high oven temperature. That is why an incandescent and halogen bulb should be used.
