Is It Safe To Leave Home While Oven On Low Temperature | Answered!

Does it ever happen to you that you’re cooking a special meal that takes a lot of time and ingredients and you’re out of the major ingredient or seasoning? So you decide to leave the meal cooking in your oven on low heat and have a quick run from the store. Well, then I must tell you, you’re taking a great risk and making a mistake.

Is It Safe To Leave Home While Oven On Low Temperature

Because leaving an oven unattended while it is on can lead to a major disaster. No matter what type of oven you have, you can’t leave it on when you’re not around. Even if you want to go for a short time, it’s unsafe. Because all types of ovens are fire stimulating. So, a slight misplacing can lead to a fire. And we all know fire spreads fast hence it’ll take no time to spread in the kitchen or house.

Can You Leave Your Oven On Low Temperature And Unattended

You can’t leave your oven on and unattended as it is not safe in any situation. Even if you keep the oven at the lowest temperature, you can’t nullify the risks. Now you can say that you have the most advanced electronic oven which guarantees 100% safety. Yet it is unable to ensure complete safety. It may have some built-in safety measures that decrease the chance of accidents but never makes it 0%.

There are several ovens available that differ in their functions and resources. But all of them possess the risk of casualty more or less. Here their feature is described for you to know if you can leave it on and if you can then for how long.

Electronic Oven

Nowadays electric ovens are the most user-friendly oven. They are easy to use and have a built-in timer. So you can set the required time of cooking in them and it’ll automatically turn off when the time is up. But because of its heat, the food can get burned easily. A microwave oven is also one type of electric oven.

Though it has a timer yet you can’t leave the oven turned on. Because you don’t know when an electric wire or wires will get damaged and start a spark. But don’t panic, if this happens while you’re around. Instead, turn off the main switch and put down the fire with a fire extinguisher.

Gas Oven

This oven runs by gas and cooks food on burners. You can easily cook several dishes in this oven at a time. However, it’s spacious and comes with stoves. But there is no timer system in it and you can’t leave the oven unattended as it is too dangerous. Because if you leave the area of your gas oven and somehow gas leaks from the oven you won’t be able to know it. But during cooking, if you stay in the area you’ll smell the gas as well as take steps.

Steam Oven

Hot steam is used to cook food in this oven. Cooking in steam keeps the food’s color, moisture, and nutrients unchanged. It also reduces the need for oil while cooking. Though it takes more space than electronic ones because it has a water tank with it, which is used for boiling to create the steams.

The demerit of this oven is that water can get splashed on the wires by accident while filling the tank. Also if somehow the tank leaks, the oven can get electrified and create a short circuit. In case you can’t detect it right away and take the necessary steps, it’ll result in a disastrous fire incident.

Convection Oven

The Convection oven is expensive compared to others. As this oven distributes the heat evenly any type of cooking can be done in this. In this oven, the dish stays close to the heating element. Also, the air circulation of the oven can be controlled. So that, you can cook as fast or slow as you want. Still, it has electric wires like any other oven so the question of full safety remains.

Conventional Oven

The feature of this oven is almost like the convection oven just it has two heating elements set at the top and bottom of the oven.

It is not obvious that if you leave home keeping the oven at a low temperature there will be a fire. Yet you can’t trust any oven’s system with a close eye. Therefore, it’s better to be cautious beforehand. So that if a fire is about to start, you will be able to put it out before it becomes a problem.

Conclusion

Nowadays all types of ovens are based on electricity no matter how they function. Even for starting ovens, electricity is now necessary. A few decades ago, ovens worked without electricity. Electricity has made our life luxurious with some risks which can be avoided. You just need to check all the wires and clean your oven regularly to avert any mischance.

Though in the case of an oven only the electronic wires aren’t the reason behind casualties. Often the grease, fat, and batter of the dish overflow and get stuck in the oven. In this event, you always have to use large utensils. Besides, keep the oven clean before and after using it. Again, keep a fire extinguisher near you while cooking cause you never know when you’ll need it. You should cover your meal too if there is any chance of splattering.
