Frigidaire Freezer High Temp Light Stays On | What’s the Reason?

A freezer is undoubtedly a must-have item in a household. You can’t think of storing frozen food for a prolonged period without a freezer. But the thing is sometimes freezers face some difficulties at least once in their lifespan. One such problem is high temp light stays on.

Well, the light or high temp alarm on means the temperature inside the freezer compartment isn’t suitably cold. It also means that the freezer isn’t ready to store frozen food. But why so? What are the reasons that your Frigidaire freezer’s temperature is higher than regular?

To get the answers, take a few minutes and read the post til the end.

Frigidaire Freezer High Temp Light Stays On

Why Does the Frigidaire Freezer High Temp Light Stay On?

The high temp light is designed to be an alarm for the freezer when the internal temperature gets higher than the sub-zero temperature. The sub-zero temperature (temperature at 0° F or below) is a must for the freezer to freeze the food in order to store it for a long period. Now, if the temperature gets high, the freezer compartment will get warm and eventually it won’t be able to freeze the food anymore. There are a few reasons that are particularly to blame for occurring this. Those are –

1. The Temperature Setting Is Inappropriate

It’s often the case that the actual cause of the problem is very minor. For example, it can be as simple as perhaps your freezer’s temperature settings aren’t set to the appropriate value. Maybe it’s set to a higher temperature than 0° F. If this is the case, adjust the temperature setting to make sure the temperature stays within the sub-zero level.

2. The Door Seal Is Faulty

If the door seal isn’t in fine condition, most likely this is causing the light-on issue. When your freezer’s door seal becomes faulty (as cracks, tears, or any other damage), it lets the outer warm air get into the freezer compartment. Or maybe there’s a gap between the door seal and the compartment that’s doing the same thing. That’s why the internal temperature can’t be cold at the expected level. So, make sure that the freezer door seal is fine and there’s no gap.

3. The Compressor Is Faulty

The compressor circulates refrigerant throughout the entire cooling system. It takes the cold freon gas emitted from the freezer compartment and keeps it under pressure until the gas temperature gets high. Then it’s recycled through the freezing system to keep the compartment cold inside. If the compressor becomes faulty or defective, the freezer won’t be cool at all. So, check the compressor and ensure that it’s operating fine.

4. The Condenser Is Dirty

It’s pretty much possible that over time there’s dust or dirt accumulation on the condenser coils. These coils hold the hot refrigerant in order to cool down the freezer. Therefore, if lots of dirt or dust accumulates on the coils, they lose their efficiency eventually and become nearly inefficient at a point. As a result, the freezer can’t have a cool temperature inside it. So, you must check for this and if you find such accumulation, clean them all.

5. Too Much Food Is Stored

If you store too much food inside the freezer, it takes time to freeze it. But in the meantime, if the merged temperature of the food is higher than the freezer temperature, it’s obvious that the food temperature will warm the freezer compartment and turn the light on. So, avoid overloading the freezer with too much foodstuff.

Conclusion

So far, we’ve shared all the most common reasons that make the freezers’ high temp light on. Any of them is to blame for your Frigidaire freezer. It’ll stay on as long as the temperature won’t level to the sub-zero temperature. Now that you know the causes behind it, check for them and fix the issue according to it.
